These locking units are intended to help retain forces in axial directions. They are being utilized in a wide variety of machines. Almost all versions of the clamping are spring-actuated, and hydraulic/pneumatic pressure is required to release it. The units’shaft diameters range from 10 to 250 mm. The respective holding forces may vary from 0.1 to 1000 kN, also depending on the style and on the users’demands.

If these units are utilized as as emergency brakes, a special version of the KFHW should be used, thus making all the external parts made of stainless steel.
